Post Grad Advice

Post grad life is so unpredictable. There are times when I wish I had an older sibling that could have told me what to expect! But no worries, I have figured out a few tips to help me get through those post grad situations where I just want to call it quits.

Self Care is Important

This is so important, because if you do not take care of yourself, no one else will! Make sure to drink plenty of water, seriously. I know that you hear this a lot, but it does make a difference. I drink so much more water now compared to my early 20’s, and staying consistently hydrated through the day keeps me alert, and getting through the day is no problem.

Eating well, instead of all that junk food, is so important. I try to cook as much as I can through the week, and not only has it saved me money, but also given me more energy. I try to cook balanced meals with vegetables, noodles, quality meats, etc. This gives me the right amount of energy to think, go to the gym, and get through the day!

Quality Time to Yourself

I am an introvert by nature, so spending time with myself is not a big deal. But for those extroverts out there, I am completely serious, spend time with only yourself, and see the difference. I feel so refreshed after spending a few hours to myself.

Spend an hour a week, thinking about your goals, spirituality, accomplishments, etc. This is so critical, because we are so bogged down with our phones nowadays that we are always comparing ourselves to others. Spending time to yourself, and thinking about yourself in a positive way, will help you see what a wonderful person you are.

Spend Time with Loved Ones

Now that you have spent some quality time to yourself, spend time with loved ones. This has become one of my favorite pastimes. I love spending time with my family and fiance. It has made me appreciate my family a lot more than when I was younger.

I spend some weekends at my parent’s house, and I love the time I get with my younger sisters, seeing what they are up to, and my parents. When I leave, I miss them! And spending time with my fiance has made our bond and relationship so much stronger.

Have Fun

Enjoy everything, and have fun! Appreciate every single moment, because we are not getting time back. Sometimes we forget to enjoy ourselves and have fun as we go through the day, or week. But this is important, because if we do not step back and enjoy our lives, it will be gone before we know it! (I hope this is not too morbid).
